
Tenaris announced on July 6th 2012 the creation of a new foundation to continue strengthening its ties with the local community in Cartagena in Colombia.
Mr Ricardo Prosperi Tenaris Area Manager for the Andean Region said that "We believe in Colombia, we believe in our people and we will continue to invest and to grow our industry very close to our communities."
The TenarisTuboCaribe Foundation is born to promote social and economic development in the company's areas of influence, especially the Nelson Mandela neighborhood in Cartagena and the nearby Turbaco municipality. It will focus mainly on education and will work in partnership with NGOs.
Mr Bruce Macmaster head of the Colombian Presidency Social Prosperity Department and Mr Myron Martínez, mayor of Turbaco attended the ceremony and highlighted the importance of social development programs.
Mr Macmaster said that "We are building a better Colombia. The focus on primary and technical education is of utmost importance for us."
Tenaris has invested over USD 2 million over the last six years in social development programs for Colombia, benefiting over 5,000 families in the local community. Its social development work is focused on the creation of sustainable long term conditions for social development via the sponsorship of programs that support education, health, sports, arts and culture.
