Tenaris has officially inaugurated on June 21st 2012 its new finishing facility for boiler tubes in Zalau, in the presence of authorities and community members, suppliers and customers.

This is the result of a USD 60 million investment in the construction of the dedicated finishing line carried out in conjunction with other improvements to the hot rolling mill, to ensure higher product quality for the power generation market.

Mr Gabriel Podskubka Tenaris Area Manager Eastern Europe said that "The finishing line will play a crucial role in Tenaris’s industrial system to support the power generation industry. Also, it ensures the long term sustainability of our Romanian operations, as we are adding a 3rd pillar to our business, in addition to the industrial & automotive and oil & gas segments we are currently serving."

The new line, which incorporates state of the art equipment and technology, meeting stringent quality and health, safety and environment standards, has a capacity of 75,000 tonnes per year.

In addition to this unique, 100% dedicated boiler line, the seamless tubes mill in Zalau is becoming a hub for Tenaris’s power generation business.

Mr Gregoire Flipo Tenaris Process and Power Plant Commercial Director said that "We are building a center of excellence in power generation, with highly skilled people in all areas: commercial front end, product development, operations and supply chain. All these with the ultimate goal of acting as a partner to our customers to co design the products and services that will be needed in their future projects."

Tenaris continues growing in Romania. In 2012, Tenaris invested in the acquisition of a sucker rod production facility located in Campina. The company is also reinforcing its commitment to customers, employees and community through another major investment USD 50 million in a state of the art threading facility for tubes used in the oil and gas industry, to be completed in 2013.
