Tenaris presented its Dopeless® technology in the first Caspian Offshore Development Conference, which took place in Astana from June 16th 2011 to June 17th 2011.
More than 200 CEOs and top managers from major regional and international oil and gas companies gathered for a 2 day round of talks and panels designed to discuss the economic and technological challenges for the development of offshore fields in Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Russia.
Mr Fernando Díaz Alberdi, Tenaris Technical and Field Service Manager, Caspian Region, said that "Our presentation on Dopeless® technology fit well because the conference focused on the need for the industry to reduce the risks of our operations."
Mr Díaz Alberdi was one of the speakers in a panel on Innovative technologies for exploration and production in the Caspian. Solutions for safety and risk management in offshore projects. After giving an overview of Tenaris’s service presence in the region, Mr Díaz Alberdi discussed the operational, HSE and environmental benefits of Dopeless® technology. His presentation highlighted the importance of implementing a dope free policy in environmentally sensitive areas in the Caspian Sea.
With offices in Atyrau, Aksai, Aktau and Almaty in Kazakhstan and a new office to be opened in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, later this year, Tenaris has a 30 strong staff of Kazakh, Russian and English speakers in the region, including a team of 10 Field Service representatives and a repair shop facility in Aktau. Currently Tenaris is creating the necessary infrastructure to introduce Dopeless® technology in the region.
The keynote speakers at the Caspian Offshore Development Conference, organized by KAZENERGY, the Kazakhstan based association of oil and gas and energy sector companies, included Kazakh Environment Minister Mr Nurgali Ashim and Oil and Gas Deputy Minister Mr Berik Tolumbaev. Tenaris’s Mr Díaz Alberdi shared the panel with Mr Dominique Monfrin, Strategy Planning General Manager, North Caspian Operating Company; Mr Michael L Christensen, General Manager E&P Projects Europe & Africa, ConocoPhillips and Mr Sergey Rekin, General Director, TMK Premium Services.
