Dopeless® technology, Tenaris's dry, multifunctional coating, provided environmental and operational benefits in a gas project in the Peruvian jungle.

The Kinteroni gas field, located in Camisea in Peru, is an environmentally sensitive area with numerous indigenous communities and biodiversity. Tenaris's Dopeless® technology helped minimize the environmental impact during Respol's operation by significantly reducing the use of water and chemicals to clean up or remove contaminants prior to installation. It also improved the safety level and reduced drilling times in the area of operation.

Repsol's Drilling Engineering Department, led by Mr Rafael Cachutt drilling manager and Mr Alberto Gil project leader engineer, worked together with Tenaris as a team to evaluate the mechanical requirements of the well to get an optimized design. After several technical discussions and the introduction to the Dopeless® concept, the team agreed and the Kinteroni well design was finally materialized and approved. Also, Tenaris provided support with well design, technical services and ongoing monitoring and inspection.

Tenaris provided TenarisHydril Blue™ and TenarisHydril Wedge 523™ casing strings and TenarisHydril Blue™ tubing, all with Dopeless® technology. Services provided included field inspection, training and running assistance and accessories supply. The project marked the first time that Dopeless® connections were used in every casing section of a well in a jungle environment, making it the first environmentally sensitive well in the Americas.
