BNamericas reported that TerniumFerrasa, the Luxembourg based Ternium steel group's new company in Colombia, will invest USD 20 million in its Acasa plant in Manizales city.
Mr Máximo Vedoya president of Ternium in Colombia told BNamericas that "The investment will mainly go toward environmental issues, which will increase Acasa's production by about 30%."
Acasa produces about 100,000 tonnes per annum of steel. The company specializes in manufacturing raw materials for tools, metal structures, energy towers and bridges. The company is already in the process of buying some equipment as part of the investment, which was influenced by the government's current policies aimed at supporting the industry.
TerniumFerrasa comprises Acasa, distributor Ferrasa and the Perfilamos tube plant located in Cali.
