Terramin gets approval for Angas project in South Australia

Terramin owner of Angas project said that Angas zinc mine project in South Australia has received key environmental approval by the state government and can now begin full scale construction.

The project has been waiting final approval of the Mining and Rehabilitation Plan for some time which Terramin has fine tuned mine development plan that construction work can start almost immediately. However first concentrates production is now seen in August of 2006 slippage from original plans to get Angas up and running by the end of this year.

Dr Kevin Moriarty executive chairman of Terramin's said that "While we have been awaiting the MARP approval our engineering contractors have been advancing mine design work so we are ready to commence construction immediately.”

Dr Moriarty added that "The company has spent more than AUD 5 million to freehold the mine site and its former quarry license and to acquire nearby properties. Mining equipment and facilities are on site and the former quarry operation has been dismantled. We have obtained all necessary waivers and insurance and are now waiting only for notification of the bond amount from PIRSA so we can start excavations."

Angas will produce 60,000 tonne per year of high grade zinc concentrate and around 24,000 tonne per year of lead-copper concentrate.
