
According to statistics, Thailand imported 150,000 tonnes of scrap in November 2011, soaring by 3.6% YoY while dropping by 28.7% MoM.
Among them, 67,000 tonnes were imported from Australia, increasing by 127.3% YoY; 13,000 tonnes were from the US, decreasing by 79.6% YoY.
In the first eleven months of 2011, the country imported 1.741 million tonnes of scrap, surging by 46.6% YoY. Among them, 765,000 tonnes were imported from the US, soaring by 89.5% YoY; 203,000 tonnes were from the UK, increasing by 138.9% YoY and 204,000 tonnes were from Australia, rising by 120.3% YoY.
Accordingly, it's estimated that Thailand would import 1.9 million tonnes of scrap in the whole 2011.
