
According to statistics, Thailand imported 211,000 tonnes of scrap in October 2011, surged substantially by 2.5 times in comparison of that in the same period of 2010. Also, this is the first time to break 200,000 tonnes over the past 5 months.
Among them, 151,000 tonnes were from the US, surged by 456.2% YoY and 9,000 tonnes were from Philippines, soared by 29.9% YoY.
Besides, Thailand's scrap imports in the first 10 months of 2011 totaled 1.591 million tonnes, increased by 52.6% YoY.
Accordingly, it's estimated that the country’s total scrap imports in 2011 would reach 1.91 million tonnes.
