
According to statistics, Thailand imported 198,243 tonnes of scraps in August 2012, slumping by 4.3 times year on year while jumping by 50.9% from a month earlier.
In August 2012, Australia was the largest scrap exporter to Thailand with 57,000 tonnes and the US was the second largest one with 52,000 tonnes.
In the first eight months of 2012, the country's scrap imports amounted to 1.366 million tonnes, rising by 9.9% YoY.
In the given period of time, the US was the largest scrap exporter to Thailand with 379,000 tonnes, falling by 31.8%; Australia was the second largest one with 179,000 tonnes, increasing by 87%; Hong Kong was the third largest one with 85,000 tonnes, jumping by 190.8%, all compared to that in the same period of the previous year.
