It is reported that Thermo Fisher Scientific will close the doors of its steel production facility by the end of2011, putting more than 100 Wisconsin residents out of their jobs.

The move means 120 workers will be laid off, and union officials say they found out about the company's decision.

Thermo Fisher makes lab equipment and software in the health and pharmaceutical industry.
