In order to inspect the progress of the A and B power plants currently being installed in Sidor, the Minister of Basic Industries and Mining, Mr José Khan, president of EDELCA Gavidia Igor and Mr Carlos D'Oliveira CEO of Steel, conducted a tour of these facilities, being able to verify in situ that this work of interest and national importance with over 75% of progress in the engineering, procurement and construction is concerned.

Mr Khan spoke of the importance of this project that will contribute to the National Interconnected System 420 MW of electricity. He added that "We are making this visit on the instructions of President Mr Hugo Chávez, aware that this work will enable the development and industrialization of downstream businesses, as well as the benefit of Venezuelan households."

He added that in this project are working about 220 workers during the seven days a week, emphasizing that currently holds the connection of water pipes and gases, allowing the first 175 MW generated by the plant A, are incorporated in September.

Mr Joseph Khan also referred to the investment made for the realization of this work of interest to the country, explaining that it is about USD 400 million, which corresponds to the investment standards for this type projects worldwide. He added that "Building a megawatt costs a million dollars."

For his part, Mr Carlos D'Oliveira CEO of Sidor said that "So with the working class and the provider of the plants are making every effort to implement this great project that will benefit the country."

Mr Igor Pifano head of Infrastructure and project Steel said that "this is a challenge from an engineering point of Sidor, as we have always specialized in the field of metallurgy, but now we have the way forward in the operation of thermoelectric technology. Seguimos avanzando a ritmo acelerado, atacando las actividades críticas como el montaje eléctrico de alto voltaje. We continue to move at an accelerated pace, attacking the critical activities such as high voltage electrical installation. We carry out the activities with great caution, safety, aware of the importance of manpower working in this project of national scope."

After inspection by power plants A and B, Basic Industry Minister Mr Jose Khan, toured the area of hot rolling of billets and steel plant of the company, where he interacted directly with the workers and workers in order to listen to these, the requirements, needs, applications and solutions related to the primary task of steel production in the country.
