The BIC countries (Brazil, India and China) are currently developing at a very high rate. The demand for raw materials has reached gigantic proportions in these booming emerging countries. Among those benefiting from this development is the Ennigerloh location of ThyssenKrupp, where machines and plants are developed and sold which efficiently process these raw materials.

A change of location: Just below 5,000 meters high, the Puncak Jaya is one of the highest mountains in Indonesia. Over the next few years, ThyssenKrupp engineers from Ennigerloh will erect five gyratory crushers in a copper mine located within eyeshot of this impressive mountain. Each of the gyratory crushers has a weight of over 350 tonnes and the dimensions of a house. They crush meter sized pieces of copper ore into football sized stones for further processing. The operator of the mine is the American company Freeport, one of the leading suppliers of gold, copper and molybdenum. This order for gyratory crushers is the largest to date in the company history of the Ennigerloh location of ThyssenKrupp.

Mr Detlef Papajewski VP Crushing Technology said that "These large scale projects are an enormous challenge and can only be carried out by a team of committed experts. This begins with the sales engineer, who travels around the world, meeting with customers to agree on the exact technical specifications of the plants. Implementing these specifications is then the job of the development engineers, who dimension and design the gyratory crushers accordingly. The link between Ennigerloh and the customer is the project manager, who coordinates the entire project from the beginning and ensures that the gyratory crushers go into operation on time in Indonesia."

In addition, other Ennigerloh departments are also involved in the project: the Erection Department, which is in charge of the assembly and commissioning of the plants, the Technical Documentation Department, responsible for creating the Assembly and Operating Instructions and the sales staff, who take charge of financial processing. The demands placed on the Ennigerloh employees are challenging, varied and interesting.

Five gyratory crushers will be delivered to Indonesia in the coming years. Over 30 machines of a similar type have been sold in the last five years by ThyssenKrupp Fördertechnik all over the world. Among the company's customers are worldwide leading mine operators such as Rio Tinto in Australia, Codelco in Chile, LKAB in Sweden, Xstrata and Heidelberger Cement.
