Toyota Motor USA Inc, a unit of Toyota Motor Corporation, said that its US vehicle sales in September 2012 jumped about 42%, as low interest rates encouraged customers to go in for its iconic brands such as the Prius, Corolla and Camry. Results were also boosted by improved sales of RAV4, Highlander and Land Cruiser SUVs and pickup trucks Tacoma and Tundra. Toyota US sales for September grew 41.5% YoY to 171,910 units from 121,451 units in the same month last year.

Mr Bill Fay, Toyota group vice president and general manager, said that "The auto industry had another very encouraging month in September 2012.
