Scunthorpe Telegraph reported that UK Rime Minister Mr David Cameron has rescheduled his meeting with MPs to discuss the job losses at TATA's steelworks in Scunthorpe.
Mr Cameron was due to meet with the MPs last week, but had to cancel at the last minute after being called to the dispatch box to respond to a debate on phone hacking.
Since then, Scunthorpe MP Nic Dakin has been pushing for the meeting to be re scheduled, even if it meant the MPs had to return to London from their summer break.
Mr Dakin said that the meeting has now been confirmed for tomorrow. Mr Cameron is expected to meet with Scunthorpe MP Mr Nic Dakin, Brigg MP Mr Andrew Percy, Barton MP Mr Martin Vickers and the chairman of the TATA Steel task force, Mr John Clugston, to discuss the job losses.
Mr Dakin told the Telegraph that "The Prime Minister promised that he would meet with us and he is holding to that promise by rescheduling the meeting for tomorrow. I am hoping that Mr Martin Vickers, Mr Andrew Percy and Mr John Clugston will be able to attend."
He added that "Coming after the Business Secretary Mr Vince Cable visited the steel works in Scunthorpe earlier last week, it is good that this will give us another opportunity to drive home the key messages about what needs to be done to support the situation at TATA and the rest of the North Lincolnshire economy."
Although it has been previously reported that the number of job losses has been reduced from 1,200 to 750, Mr Dakin stressed that this figure had not been confirmed. He said that "TATA management and the unions are working through a difficult and challenging situation and have always made it clear all along that they hope to bring down the number of job losses as far as possible. But the number of job losses remains at 1,200 until that process is complete and we will not know the actual number of people who will be left out of work until then."
