
American Iron & Steel Industries reported that, in the week ending November 14th 2009, domestic raw steel production was 1.557 million tons while the capability utilization rate was 65.3%. Production was 1.209 million tons in the week ending November 14th 2008, while the capability utilization then was 50.7%. The current week production represents a 28.8% YoY increase from the same period in the previous year.
Production for the week ending November 14th 2009 is up by 0.9% WoW from the previous week ending November 7th 2009 when production was 1.544 million tons and the rate of capability utilization was 64.7%.
Adjusted YTD production through November 14th 2009 was 53.773 million tons, at a capability utilization rate of 49.6%. That is a 42.4% YoY decrease from the 93.243 million tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 84.7%.
