
American Iron & Steel Industries reported that, in the week ending March 6th 2010, US domestic raw steel production was 1.683 million tons while the capability utilization rate was 69.2%. Production was 995,000 tons in the week ending March 6th 2009, while the capability utilization then was 41.7%. The current week production represents a 69.2% YoY increase from the same period in the previous year.
Production for the week ending March 6th 2010 is up by 0.9% WoW from the previous week ending February 27th 2010 when production was 1.668 million tons and the rate of capability utilization was 69%.
Adjusted YTD production through March 6th 2010 was 14.952 million tons, at a capability utilization rate of 66.6%. That is a 55.8% increase from the 9.599 tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 42.9%.
