
Usiminas Mechanica announced on Thursday it has agreed to build a second rail car plant in Minas Gerais, an eye on the country an annual demand of 4,500 units per year.
The factory to be built in Congonhas, expected to begin operating in the second quarter of this year.
The installed capacity will be up to 3,000 cars per year will allow the production and installation of up to four models of cars simultaneously.
Usiminas has a backlog of more than 700 cars, including 447 wagons are telescopic to Eldorado Pulp and 220 wagons for the Valley, being made by the company's factory in Santana do Paraíso .
The new plant will be installed near a mixed gauge railroad MRS, allowing the availability of wagons produced directly on the railway.
