Vietnam News Agency reported that containers of iron scrap defined as toxic waste are preparing to be re exported, an additional 20 containers of scrap landed at Da Nang Port on August 12th 2008.

These 20 containers containing 546 tonnes of iron scrap belong to the Thanh Loi Steel JS Company, also the owner of the 18 containers of waste.

Mr Huynh Van Tan general director of Thanh Loi said that the 20 containers come from the same source of the 18 previous ones, the Global Real Estate Eser Vince in Italy.

Thanh Loi has not submitted customs declarations for these containers. It said that it asked local authorities to reconsider the test results of the first 18 containers and the decision to force Thanh Loi to re export these containers.

If the local authorities maintain the decision to force the first to be re exported, the company will not submit customs declaration for the 20 new containers and re-export them immediately to save money and time.
