According to statistics released by Vietnamese customs, Vietnam imported 7.39 million tons of steel products in 2011, decreasing by 18.7% year on year.

Among them, 1.93 million tonnes of steel products were imported from Japan, soaring by 10.6% YoY; 1.7 million tonnes were from South Korea, increasing by 2.9% YoY and 1.67 million tonnes were from China, decreasing by 23.7% YoY.

In 2011, the country's import figures of steel products amounted to USD 6.43 billion, rising by 4.5% YoY.
