Western Metals Recycling purchased local automotive salvage and metal recycling business Van Gundy's AMPCO Inc.

Western is owned by Cincinnati based The David J Joseph Company, a subsidiary of steel manufacturing business Nucor Corporation. The David J Joseph Company is a scrap broker and processor that acquired Van Gundy's to strengthen its core recycling business.

Van Gundy's opened in 1929 and moved to its current location at 645 Fourth Ave in 2006.
