MEED reported that Abu Dhabi Basic Industries Corporation and Bahrain based Midal Cables plan to float USD 100 million tender in the Q3 of 2010 for a 150,000 tonne per year aluminium rod and conductor facility at Khalifa Port and Industrial Zone in Taweelah.

Mr Hamid AlZayani chairman of Midal said that one third of the products manufactured at the plant will be sold within the GCC with the remainder being sold on the global market. Adbic is currently planning to build 3 new aluminium downstream facilities at KPIZ that will form the basis of a proposed metals park around Emirates Aluminum’s 750,000 tonnes per year smelter.
