Aleris named Mr Jeffrey A Byrd VP of Aleris Operating System effective July 1st 2011. Mr Byrd will lead this global operating system of integrated principles, operating practices and tools to drive transformational and continuous improvements. He will report to Mr Steven J Demetriou chairman and CEO of Aleris.

Mr Byrd previously was VP of Operations & Supply Chain for the company's Rolled Products North America business. Before that he served as vice president Supply Chain for that segment. Mr Byrd joined Aleris in 2004. Earlier he was director Manufacturing and Supply Chain Operations for Alflex Corporation and director, Materials Planning for Commonwealth Aluminum Company and held operations, sales and technical roles at Barmet Aluminum Corporation.

Mr Demetriou said that "Jeff's appointment to this new position emphasizes our commitment to strengthen our operations. AOS is key to transforming our core processes across the enterprise to support our growth, productivity and customer service goals. Mr Byrd holds an MBA from Ashland University and a BA in Finance and Management from Walsh University.
