Business News Americas reported that Multinational resource group Anglo American's Chilean copper operations suffered a production loss of less than 1,500 tonnes due to stoppages following February 27th 2010 earthquake.
Copper mines Los Bronces, El Soldado and Mantoverde were able to resume full production on Sunday, as power was restored to all operations. Minor damage was reported at the operations but no employees or contractors working at the time were injured.
Anglo American added that the Chagres smelter was expected to return to full production Wednesday following resumption of full power supply. All the operations are in central and northern Chile, at least 400 kilometers from the epicenter of the 8.8 magnitude quake and tsunami that left some 800 people dead.
