ABC reported that Bendigo Mining has continued its strong performance in 2009 with production up by nearly 80% in the September quarter.
The boost is due to its acquisition of the Henty mine in Tasmania. The company is predicting a total production of between 80,000 ounces and 90,000 ounces for the current financial year.
Mr Rod Hanson MD of Bendigo Mining said that he is optimistic that further explorations at the Henty mine in Tasmania will extend its life past June 2010.
He said that "Clearly we've got to do the work but there are some great targets to follow up down there. So we're prioritizing those and we'll start drilling on the surface in early December."
