Reuters reported that China Nonferrous Metals Corporation will suspend production at its Baluba copper mine in Zambia from November 15 for 45 days to replace its ore hoisting system.
Mr Sydney Chileya spokesman said that we are going to have no production for the whole of this period but underground mining development will continue. The processing plant will be shut down because there will be no ore to process.
Mr Chileya said that Baluba mine would increase the speed of hoisting the ore from the mine to 8 metres per second from the current 2.5 meters per second.
