
Interfax cited Mr Samruk-Kazyna head of Sovereign Wealth Fund as saying that the China Development Bank may provide the Kazakhmys Company with a loan of USD 1.5 billion to USD 2 billion that Kazakhmys will most likely use to build a copper plant in Kazakhstan.
He said that "From the loan from the China Development Bank, we will most likely help financing the Bozshakol Copper Plant in Pavlodar region. It is an investment project of the Kazakhmys Corporation."
Mr Kairat Kelimbetov told a news conference in the Kazakh capital, Astana. He said the China Development Bank loan issue would be raised in the course of a planned visit by Kazakh Prime Minister Mr Karim Masimov to China.
