Bloomberg reported that MMG suspended operations at its Century zinc mill in Queensland State after a slurry of concentrate and water leaked from a pipeline.
MMG said that pumping was halted as soon as the fault was found and the company was determining the amount of slurry discharged. It said that the Century mill at Karumba inland from the Gulf of Carpentaria will be closed during the clean up and repair while mining will continue. Port stockpiles will be used to meet orders.
MMG also owns the Rosebery zinc and lead and Avebury nickel mines both in Tasmania State and the Golden Grove mine in Western Australia.
