China issues additional 9770 tonnes of rare earth export quota

The Ministry of Commerce has announced the second batch of rare earth export quota of 9,770 tonnes for this year.

The ministry said that the quota include 8,537 tonnes of light rare earth metals and 1,233 tonnes of medium and heavy rare earth metals taking this year's export quota to a total of 30,996 tonnes up 2.7% from 30,184 tonnes in 2011.

The new quota will be granted to 24 companies including Baogang Group, China Minmetals Corporation, Aluminum Corporation of China and Zibo Jiahua Advanced Material Resources Company.

The MOC on December 27th 2011 accounted the first batch of rare earth export quota of 10,546 tonnes which was expanded by 10,680 tonnes in May this year.

In the first 7 months of this year, the export volume of rare earth ore, metals and mixtures in China, the world's biggest rare earth supplier plunged 36.7% YoY to 21,729 tonnes.
