ABC reported that the Golden Grove copper and zinc mine east of Geraldton in Western Australia is set for a massive expansion.

It's owned by Chinese state company Minerals and Metals Group which plans to inject USD 100 million into the existing project.

MMG has recently updated the reserves it believes are available at the mine to 3.1 million tonnes of copper oxide. The previous reserve estimate was for 1.5 million tonnes of copper oxide.

The expansion would mean 550 workers will be employed for underground operations for the next 7 years.
