A Chinese company that was slated to open a plant in Alabama's Clarke County is instead planning USD 100 million facility in neighboring Wilcox County.

State officials said that Golden Dragon Copper is moving its planned facility from Pine Hill from Thomasville because the project expanded in scope and the Clarke County location was too small. The project could bring between 300 and 500 jobs to the region.

Mr George Alford manager of the Wilcox County Industrial Development Authority said that the project is one of the largest economic development events in the county's history. The county was recently named the 15th poorest in the country.
