
Copper stockpiles monitored by the Shanghai Futures Exchange climbed this week to the highest level in almost four months, while aluminum holdings were the largest in half a year.
Data from the bourse showed that copper inventories rose 12,039 tonnes to 105,258 tonnes on January 6th 2012. That is the highest since the week ending September 15.
According to a survey of 20 warehouses in Shanghai, Guangdong, Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, aluminum inventories gained for a fifth week, adding 13,658 tonnes to 221,624 tonnes, the highest since July.
Zinc stockpiles gained 1,577 tonnes to 365,763 tonnes based on a survey of 15 warehouses in Shanghai, Guangdong and Zhejiang, while those for lead fell 736 tonnes to 29,850 tonnes, the lowest since April.
