
Interfax reported that Kazakhstan's Eurasian Natural Resources Corporation in the Q2 of 2011 increased aluminum production by 8.8% to 62,000 tonnes YoY.
Total ferroalloys gross and saleable production in Q2 2011 was broadly in line with Q2 2010 and Q1 2011. Ferrochrome production was 353,000 tonnes an increase of 2% and 0.6% as compared with Q2 2010 and Q1 2011 respectively.
Bauxite extraction in the reporting period was 1.354 million tonnes, alumina production of 409,00 tonnes was in line with Q2 2010 and showed an increase of 1.2% compared with Q1 2011.
Iron ore extraction totaled 10.617 million tonnes, primary iron ore concentrate production amounted to 4.497 million tonnes, salable iron ore concentrate production was 2.004 million tonnes, and saleable pellet production totaled 2.098 million tonnes.
Chrome ore extraction stood at 1.207 million tonnes, saleable chrome ore production was 959,000 tonnes. Manganese ore extraction totaled 737,000 tonnes; saleable concentrate production reached 281,000 tonnes.
Copper ore extraction of 66,000 tonnes was 12.0% lower than in Q2 2010 and 8 % below Q1 2011. Saleable copper production for Q2 2011 was 7,361 tonnes, an increase of 42.2% from Q2 2010 and 12.0% higher than Q1 2011. Cobalt ore extraction was 245,000. Cobalt contained production in Q2 2011 was 2,666 tonnes, an increase of 21.6% from Q2 2010 due mainly to higher cobalt grades.
In Q2 2011 the Energy Division extracted 4,363 million tonnes of coal from the Vostochny mine, a decrease of 2.2% from Q2 2010 and 24.8% from Q1 2011.
