Reuters reported that South African diversified miner Exxaro plans to start construction of 13 MW power co generation plant at its Namakwa Sands titanium unit in April 2011.
Mr Thomas Garner manager of Exxaro's energy unit said that the company was finalising a feasibility study for the project. If we approve the final investment, which will happen early next year construction will probably start in April 2011.
He said that the plant which will use waste gas from the operations will be funded from Exxaro's own balance sheet although he did not provide a cost estimate for the project. The power would be for the company's own use.
