Reuters reported that Japan's Furukawa Company Limited plans to produce 46,350 tonnes of copper in the April to September half of the 2010 to 2011 up 14% from the same period last year.
Japanese smelters reduced production of copper and other base metals earlier in 2009 as the economic crisis forced automakers and other manufacturers to curb output. While some smelters planned to increase copper output for the H1 2010, their outlook remained cautious.
Following are details of the company's latest output plan with comparisons against estimated production in the H2 of 2009 to 2010 and actual production in the H1 of 2009 to 2010.
| H1 '10/11 | H2 '09/10 | H1 '09/10 | |
| Copper | 46,350 | 44,222 | 40,575 |
