
Reuters reported that Glencore International Plc has appointed the head of its Congolese subsidiary as chief executive of Zambia's Mopani Copper Mines.
Mr Danny Callow takes over from Mr Emmanuel Mutati who was appointed chairman of the company. Zambia's finance minister said in June that that an audit showed taxes were still owed by Mopani but the company has said it was based on flawed methodology.
Mr Callow, a mining engineer joins Mopani from Mutanda Mining, a Glencore subsidiary in the Democratic Republic of Congo where he has been general manager since 2007.
