
Imidro reported that the biggest aluminum unit of the country, Hormozal with annual capacity of 147,000 tons will be put into operation in Hormozgan Province soon.
According to the Public Relations of the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization some EUR 400 million and IRR 2,000 billion have been invested on Hormozal Aluminum Project and some 500 direct jobs and more than 2,000 indirect jobs will be created by putting it into operation.
The most advanced aluminum technology of Iran, 230KA technology, has been used in execution of Hormozal project. The plant which includes 3 sections of electricity, reduction saloon and anode annealing saloon is located nearby Almahdi Aluminum Plant with capacity of 110,000 tonnes in Bandar Abbas.
Being the biggest aluminum project of the country, using the best technology of the country being compatible with technology and facilities of Almahdi Aluminum plant, less electricity consumption and less anode consumption comparing to Almahdi plant are among the advantages of Hormozal project.
Putting Hormozal project into operation will result in adding 47% to the aluminum production capacity of the country. The current aluminum production capacity of Iran is 310,000 tonnes.
