Horsehead, Pittsburgh based zinc producer is planning to build a new plant based on green technology with the annual capacity 150 thousand tonnes of zinc.
The officials said that a long preliminary feasibility study had completed and the project was now under stage of design and engineering but final site hasn’t been determined and the costs still were being refined.
It’s said that the final location of the facility might depend on electric power costs, environmental permitting process, requirements, labor costs and any incentives offered by state and local governments. Meanwhile, the project is set to conclude in end of the spring and the construction will start by the end of this year.
The company expects to reduce the production costs by the commission of the new plant and the new capacity will replace the existing capacity of old plant.
