PTI reported that taking positive cues from the global markets and rising domestic demand, zinc prices rose 0.28% to INR 108.40 per kilogram in futures trade.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in September edged up by 30 paise or 0.28% to INR 108.40 per kilogram with business turnover of 1,388 lots. October zinc traded marginally higher by 25 paise or 0.23% to INR 109.05 per kilogram with business turnover of 83 lots.
Marketmen said that the rise in zinc prices at futures trade was due to a firming trend overseas on hopes that China and the US will roll out more stimulus programs to boost their economies, raising the demand for industrial metals influencing zinc futures prices here. Meanwhile, at the London Metal Exchange, zinc traded 0.16% higher at USD 1,973 per tonne in early trade.
