PTI reported that a revival in construction and energy sectors is expected to push up India's copper consumption in the months ahead.
Mr Ajit Advani deputy regional director of International Copper Association of Asia Pacific said that "The demand for copper is expected to increase in the months ahead, as construction and energy sectors have begun picking up."
Mr Adani said that “The industry has seen demand picking up mainly from the construction and power sectors in the recent past. This is expected to improve further moving ahead. He noted that the Government's ongoing project to make electricity available in all villages in India by 2012 under the Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidyut Yojana is expected to give a further fillip to drive the demand.”
