BS reported that zinc prices weakened by 0.34% to INR 102.25 per kilogram in futures market on subdued domestic demand amid a weak global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in August traded lower by 35 paise or 0.34% to INR 102.25 per kilogram with a business turnover of 2,946 lots. The September contract shed 30 paise or 0.29% to INR 103 per kilogram in 139 lots.

Marketmen attributed the decline in zinc futures to subdued domestic demand and a weak trend in the overseas markets. Meanwhile, zinc lost 0.7% to USD 1,846.25 per tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
