Kazakhstan Jan-Nov copper and zinc output up by 3pct YoY

Reuters reported that Kazakhstan's refined copper output rose by 3.0% YoY in January to November 2011 while refined zinc production grew by 0.3%.

Data released by the State Statistics Agency showed that refined copper production in January to November 2011 was 308,245 tonnes. Refined zinc output totalled 292,710 tonnes.

Production of alumina and unwrought aluminum rose by 2.7% in the first 11 months of the year and bauxite production was up 2.5%. Refined lead production increased by 11.0% and crude steel output by 12.5% in the same comparison.

London listed miners Kazakhmys and ENRC as well as Glencore controlled Kazzinc account for a large part of Kazakhstan's metals output. ArcelorMittal owns the country's only major steel plant.
