Kidman Resources has discovered two vertical copper lenses during a drilling program at the company’s projects in central New South Wales. The 19 hole reverse circulation drilling program at the Wilmatha and Blind Calf projects have identified multiple intercepts extending and expanding Kidman’s copper discovery.
Kidman's Wilmatha prospect is located around 12 kilometers east of Blind Calf and is close to Kimberley Metals Mineral Hill plant. Maiden drilling at Wilmatha identified a new epithermal quartz malachite vein 12 kilometers east of Blind Calf.
The drill program targeted copper mineralization below historical workings in the area with rock chip samples from the former work dumps assaying at up to 5.4% copper, 6.2 grams per tonne silver and 0.17 grams per tonne gold. At Wilmatha, strikes were made across 80 meters from three of the four drill holes, with copper intercepts remaining open in every direction.
Assays from drilling at Wilmatha include:
1. 3 meters at 1.3% copper and 3.6 grams per tonne silver from 33 meters including 1 meter at 2.5% copper, 10.5 grams per tonne silver, 1,100 parts per million bismuth;
2. 2 meters at 14.6 grams per tonne silver and 0.2% lead from 7 meters and
3. 1 meter at 1.1% copper and 235 parts per million bismuth from 52 meters.
The elevated bismuth levels in what appears to be an epithermal type deposit could indicate the presence of gold. Meanwhile, at the Mahgalore copper workings initial results from first pass drilling include intercepts of 1 meter at 0.6% copper, 0.15 grams per tonne gold and 675 parts per million bismuth.
Kidman expects to receive a three dimensional induced polarization model based on the results from the program which will generate further targets for the next drilling program, expected to begin in December.
