Reuters reported that London Metal Exchange is planning to open an office in Singapore as a significant portion of its business comes from Asia.

A spokesman for the exchange said that “We're talking to members about opening an office. It's very early stages. We're just assessing the viability of it.

The spokesman declined to give a time scale for the opening of the new office but industry sources said the exchange was looking to open it in the H1 of 2010.
