Bloomberg reported that Minerals and Metals Group has restarted concentrate output at the world’s second biggest zinc mine this week following an 11 week stoppage.
MMG said that the company plans to resume shipments to customers in the coming weeks. Output from the Century mine in Australia’s Queensland state had been suspended as the company completed repairs on a pipeline that ruptured October 5th 2009. The line carries concentrate to the port.
According to MMG, Nyrstar NV buys concentrate from the mine. The mine produced 158,603 tonnes of zinc concentrate in the September quarter. It delivers about 500,000 tonnes of zinc a year and had reserves of 4.3 million tonnes at June 30th 2008.
