Base metals started the new trading month on a firm footing in July opening as economic confidence improved on the back of stronger manufacturing data from the United States.
The Institute of Supply Management's manufacturing purchasing managers' index in US rose to 55.3 in June, from 53.5 in May, bucking a downward global trend.
Confidence in the market also grew after the safe passage of two austerity measures in Greece eased some concerns about a debt default.
The moderation in China's factory sector lowered expectations for another round of monetary tightening. China's official Purchasing Managers' Index for June fell to 50.9 from 52 in May.
