
IRIS reported that National Aluminium Company has posted a sharp decline of 97% in net profit for the quarter ended September 30th 2012 due to higher input cost and lower production.
During the quarter, the company's profit plunged to INR 47.8 million for the quarter ended September 30th 2012 whereas the same was at INR 1,393.4 million for the quarter ended September 30th 2011.
The sharp fall in profit was due to increase in coal and fuel cost by INR 1.24 billion and lower production in rainy season. Net sales during the quarter fell marginally 0.3% to INR 16.09 billion while total income went up slightly 0.14% helped by other income to INR 17.47 billion when compared with prior year period.
