
National Aluminium Company Limited organized the 17th Plant Level Advisory Committee Meeting at Bhubaneswar. Mr Saurav Garg commissioner cum secretary of Industries Department, Mr NK Khatoi director of Industries Government of Odisha, Mr AK Srivastava CMD of NALCO and Mr Ansuman Das director commercial of the Company were notably present on the occasion and held discussions with the members and representatives of various Small Scale and Ancillary industries of the State.
Mr Ansuman Das highlighted NALCO’s concern as a mother industry towards promoting the interest of local Small Scale Industries.
Mr AK Srivastava said that in context of globalization it is evident that the SSI units should lay more emphasis in maintaining quality cost competitiveness and technological up gradations. Moreover NALCO is always eager to support the Small Scale Industries, in whatever way that is feasible.
He said that the concrete efforts put in both by NALCO and SSI units with the requisite support from the concerned Government bodies has helped to build up a rising trend in the business dealings between NALCO & SSI units.
Sharing his views on the upcoming Aluminium Park at Angul, Mr Srvastava said that park is expected to promote downstream and ancillary industries and the Odisha based industries should take advantage of NALCO metal as it will benefit them with lesser transportation cost, VAT credit and timely delivery.
Mr Saurav Garg commissioner cum secretary of Industries Department appreciated the role of NALCO as mother industry and expressed their satisfaction on Company’s functioning towards promotion of Ancillary and SSI units in the State.
During the meeting, presentations were made by the NALCO authorities explaining the methodology of placement of orders, pricing, payment etc. The items identified for purchases from SSI and Ancillary units were also detailed out. It may be mentioned here that NALCO has given Ancillary status to 49 units. In the year 2009 to 2010 the Company had placed orders worth INR 70.10 crore from SSI and Ancillary units.
Altogether 80 participants including PLAC members, representatives from SISI, IDCO, IPICOL, OSFC, OSIC, Directorate of Industries, Export Promotion & Marketing along with representatives of Odisha Small Scale Industries Association, Odisha Young Entrepreneurs Association, Odisha Assembly of Small & Medium Enterprises, Utkal Chambers of Commerce and Odisha Industries Federation were present on the occasion.
