
Mr Odd Ivar Biller senior VP in Hydro and Qatalum board member at the Qatar Aluminium Symposium said that “Producing aluminum is technologically advanced. We therefore need good cooperation with universities like the Qatar University to educate the engineers of tomorrow producing the metal of the future.”
The aluminum conference in Doha was hosted by the Qatar University and sponsored by the Qatalum aluminum company and the Norwegian aluminum company Hydro. The Qatar Aluminum Symposium covered highlights from the complete aluminum value chain, including production, fabrication and the use phase of aluminum. The symposium aimed to demonstrate the key attributes that make aluminum the material for the future, already in use today.
Presenters at the symposium were key experts and top-level management from Qatar University, the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Qatar Petroleum, Qatalum and Hydro.
Mr Odd Ivar Biller who heads Hydro's office at the Qatar Science and Technology Park said that "Hydro is very pleased with the good cooperation with Qatar University and Qatalum, hosting this aluminum symposium. Aluminum will help the world saving energy in cars, buildings and a number of other applications.”
Dr Mariam Al Madeed director of the Materials Technology Unit at Qatar University introduced the seminar while Biller chaired the seminar and introduced the speakers.
