Outotec has made an agreement with Shanghang County Jinshan Trading Company Limited on the supply of smelter technology and services. The end user will be Zijin Copper Company Limited. The contract value is approximately EUR 7 million.

The agreement covers Outotec Flash Smelting license the supply of proprietary process equipment and services for Zijin's copper smelter project in Shanghang, Fujian Province in China.

The Greenfield smelter is planned to produce an annual 200,000 tonnes of cathode copper. Outotec's material deliveries are scheduled to take place in the Q3 of 2010.

Outotec Flash Smelting technology is the cleanest smelting method available for copper and nickel. Zijin will be the fifth smelter in China using the technology because of its low energy consumption and superior environmental performance.
