Peru Dec copper output rises to record on Xstrata and Antamina

Bloomberg reported that Peru’s copper output rose to a record in December on gains at mines operated by Xstrata Plc and Cia Minera Antamina SA.
The ministry said that copper production climbed 6.5% to 122,642 tonnes from a year earlier. Gold output rose 6.8% to 13,714 kilograms as Barrick Gold Corporation and Cia de Minas Buenaventura SAA increased production. Lead, iron and molybdenum production rose while silver, zinc, tin and tungsten all fell.
